Allen and his Golden Retriever, Po
After surviving a six-week coma in 2021, an experience that included being revived by EMTs, I’m now living what I call my "second life." I’m a physician working half-time, grateful for every day.
My wife, our Golden Retriever, Po, and I spend a lot of our time immersed in our love for mid-century design. What started as a casual interest in ashtrays has turned into a full-blown passion. We’ve collected over 300, with a strong focus on Royal Haeger, alongside a growing number of Ben Seibel pieces.
The community around Royal Haeger collecting has been a surprisingly warm and rewarding part of this journey, filled with generous and knowledgeable people.
We recently transformed our den into a rotating gallery of our favorite finds, a true mid-century modern haven where we spend hours swapping out pieces and spinning vinyl. I suppose we'll keep collecting until the shelves are full, though we’re nearly there already.
